Hello dear reader! My name is Hannah and I’m a communications and social media professional by day and an avid reader, blogger, and bookstagrammer by night…and early morning, you know how it goes.

Reading has always been a huge part of my life. Some of my most vivid childhood memories involve going to the bookstore with my mom, dad and brother. We would arrive together and then immediately split up. Usually I made my way straight to the age appropriate fantasy section. I grew up on the OG young adult vampire novels like Twilight but also The House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast and The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith (way before it was a TV show, thank you very much). I also remember loving Holly Black’s Modern Faerie Tale series and Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies series. In short, anything supernatural, otherworldly, and magical.

After we spent hours scouring the shelves we would join back together in the cafe area with our stacks of books and read through the first chapters and make our selections. I can’t begin to put into words how thankful I am that a love of reading and storytelling was instilled in me at such a young age.

I went to school for strategic communication and minored in English just so I could have an excuse to take classes that involved more reading and writing. I think I’m one of the few Temple University students who enjoyed just getting lost in the aisles of the massive library, just exploring different subjects and genres. Once I graduated though, as I’m sure is the case with most people, adult life set in. I worked a 9 – 5 job with nearly an hour and a half commute and the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was use my brain more to read or write.

Finally, I moved out of my childhood home and into an apartment with my long term partner, which cut my commute time to and from work down significantly. That, coupled with a few industry changes that were a longtime coming, helped me get back into reading. I read all of Maggie Stiefvater’s Raven Cycle series in a month or two and then quickly read all four of Nora Sacavic’s self-published All For the Game novels. That and Vicious by V.E. Schwab, were my first introductions to the world of “New Adult”. A genre made almost specifically for twenty and thirty somethings who grew up during the boom of Young Adult and Harry Potter and now find themselves with nothing to read or relate to. Not only do I identify more strongly with characters in New Adult novels they also don’t shy around from intersectionality and inclusivity, two things I think were sorely missing from fiction when I was growing up.

In November of 2019 I decided to really dedicate myself to reading again and to add to it by chronicling it in some way. I started a “bookstagram” account, an instagram that purely posts books and book related content, and started this blog you’re now visiting! At this point I have no idea what the future holds but I can’t begin to describe how happy and fulfilled I feel to be falling into books over and over and over and over again. I hope you’ll join me on this journey!
